Mount Pleasant and Charleston 

Adjacent to Charleston, Mount Pleasant is situated on a peninsula that extends into the Charleston Harbor. Mt. Pleasant is one of the largest communities in South Carolina but is dedicated to keeping a small-town feel. Mount Pleasant is full of family-friendly neighborhoods and is very close to public beaches on Isle of Palms. However, there is still plenty to do and see!

In the Movies

A hot spot in Mt. Pleasant is Mount Pleasant’s Old Village. This historic district is full of colonial houses, including its original homes from the eighteenth century. There are multiple walking tour opportunities that you can do to show you around town. 

If you’re taking a stroll and things start to look familiar, it’s probably because Nicholas Spark’s “The Notebook” had many scenes filled here! Scenes were filmed at the local Seabrook Inn and nearby plantations. 

Events Through the Year

Mount Pleasant has so much to do on the day-to-day. However, it also has multiple annual events that residents look forward to. One of those is the Lowcountry Oyster Festival at the Boone Hall Plantation. The festival has an eating contest, oysters galore, and live music. 

Another annual festival is the Blessing of the Fleet and Seafood Festival. This festival shows locals the shrimping and fishing industry and its importance to the town. This festival offers a boat parade, live music, and plenty of free activities for the family to enjoy.

If medical care is needed, the closest hospital is East Copper Medical Center in the town limits. ECMC offers care for all services, including emergency care. If you or someone you know is traveling into town, they can find the closest services to be at Charleston International Airport, approximately 20 minutes away in Charleston.
